About our school
St Silas Primary School is involved in the "Share Our Languages" programme. This is a new family learning programme that has been developed by the National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education, ContinYou and Goldsmiths University of London as part of the Our Languages project.
The programme supports the teaching of community languages, promotes bilingualism and the use of mother-tongue languages. It is delivered by the Share team within ContinYou which uses a practical hands-on approach to involving parents and carers in their children’s learning and development and increases their understanding of the vital role they play.
Supplementary/complementary schools, mainstream schools and Children’s Centres took part in the Share Our Languages pilot project in London, Coventry and Blackburn in the autumn and winter of 2008/2009.
