About our school

At Moseley School A Language College our three core values are courtesy, co-operation and respect. We have productive partnerships with many organisations, including primary and secondary schools, HE, businesses and community groups. Moseley School is a large mixed multi-ethnic comprehensive. The school was formed from the amalgamation of the well known Moseley Grammar School and Moseley Secondary in 1974. We have a high reputation, a large Sixth Form and are very proud of our International School Award and ICT Mark. Since September 2000 Moseley has been a Specialist Language College. Our school population is rich in linguistic and cultural diversity and has a high proportion of EAL students. Community cohesion is high on the agenda to ensure participation and achievement of future generations.

About our partnership

The partnership between Moseley School and Hamza Mosque was set up in October 2007. Hamza colleagues were invited to observe lessons at Moseley. Moseley also entered ten students from Hamza Mosque for GCSE Urdu and provided them with extra teaching at Moseley School every Wednesday from 5-7pm. Students and teachers both come to extra sessions in order to learn different teaching and learning methods as well as exam technique and preparation. An event was planned to disseminate good practice and get more madrassa teachers involved.

Out of 200 students attending Hamza Mosque, 15 go to Moseley School. 10 students from Hamza Mosque now attend the Wednesday twilight class with their Urdu teacher. The parents of these students are very impressed by the classes and would like more of their children to have the opportunity to attend. The supplementary school teachers are also keen on having more of these classes and events in the future and on working together to bridge the gap between the community, students and parents.
