About our school
Madani High School and Community Centre is the first purpose-built Islamic faith secondary school in England. A combination of Islamic architectural design and modern building technology has succeeded in producing, what many people would consider to be a ‘world class school’. Equipped with the latest computer technology and communication infrastructure the institution has the capability of delivering the highest quality educational experience for all.
Currently the school provides education for 300 girls and 300 boys of secondary school age. Their education is organised separately and the school delivers the subjects of the full national curriculum. The school track record in terms of GCSE achievements is among the best in the country and the school will endeavour to maintain, and indeed improve the quality and standards of education for all our pupils. The institution is strongly placed to provide a model example of education with a distinctive Islamic paradigm congruent with mainstream Muslim experience in British society.
About our partnership
Madani High School is currently working with Masjid-Ul-Imam-Il-Bukhari - whose students attend 15 other mainstream schools in the city. This partnership is supported by the School Development Support Agency (SDSA).
In the first stage the main aim was to encourage accreditation. Approximately 80 students sat Arabic and Urdu exams at Madani High School in February 2008. These candidates included pupils and staff from the complementary school and some students of the Madani High School. Colleagues from the Majid are working with the SDSA to work towards being able to provide tuition and support for students to increase their GCSE A* - Cs in at least one extra language.
This project has given both Madani High School and the Bukhari Mosque the opportunity to build a working relationship, share good practice and provide learning opportunities for the community it represents. Madani High School being a newly purpose built institution with state-of-the art facilities is in a strategic position to provide leadership in language learning. It is envisaged that more and more people through this project will be able to benefit from the rich resources the school possesses. Furthermore, students who may struggle with their GCSEs in languages have an alternative way of attaining accreditation.
