About our school

Watford Hindu Group Gujarati School started over 20 years ago and is operated by dedicated volunteers with professional qualifications who continue to learn and contribute towards the well being of children in the area. The school also provide some awareness of health and well being from local qualified personnel.

About our partnership

Watford Hindu Group Gujarati School’s involvement in the Our Languages project is motivated by the desire to teach Gujarati to children so that they can speak it with their families and friends alike. The project also helps them to understand the cultural values of the Gujarat region of Northwest India. The school feels that they have benefited from the project by being able to exchange skills, knowledge and good teaching practices with its hosts – the Watford Grammar School for Boys and the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT).

"I have been teaching at the school for over 20 years, I have seen children grow into mature adults who read, write and speak Gujarati, but have also become professional good citizens of our community".

- Kundan bhen - Teacher

"I was born in UK and therefore have very little knowledge about Gujarati people in India. The school however prepared me well to read, write and speak the language. Learning the language at WHGGS helped me with my recent visit to India".

- Asha Parmar - Student

"Running a volunteer organization is very hard work but equally rewarding, I recommend everyone to participate by helping even with a small amount of time you may have".

- Nisha Raniga - Committee member
