About our school
The School was founded in 1090 and is accommodated in beautiful buildings, which served as a Hospital during World War I, on the outskirts of Lincoln. Since 1974 the School has been mixed comprehensive School and in 2001 it became a designated Language College. There has been a rapid and recent rise in the number of Students for whom English is an Additional Language. In 2008 our GCSE results were 66% 5 A*-C, 47% including English and Maths. For Languages 52% of our students left with a Language GCSE C or above. This rises to 55% when the community of native speakers is included.
About our partnership
Working closely with the Lincoln School of Arabic, Lincoln Christ’s Hospital School has used the Our Languages project to develop Arabic lessons for its non native speaking pupils. It is hoped that this will lead to accreditation using Asset and the Languages Ladder, and also to Arabic accreditation for Heritage students of the language both within the school and beyond. Importantly, the project has also provided support for International links and visits and has generated a culture that values community languages.
