About our school
The Northampton Greek School based in Unity College School, Northampton, is open to all students from ages 4 years and up to 18+ years who would like to learn the Modern Greek language. They offer the opportunity to take GCSE and now A ’level study. The school has been running more than 15 years and the teaching includes learning the Greek culture (traditions and customs) and history. The Greek School participates in different community events and encourage the students to take part in Greek dances/plays/singing to show off their abilities and progress and to have fun as well as to socialize. They also attend a carnival once a year run by Northampton County Council and attend many other events run by the Council e.g. dances, traditional dress events etc. The school also organizes social events, e.g. educational trips, movie evenings and dinner and dances for students and their families to join in.
About our partnership
As part of the Our Languages project, the Northampton Greek School has been preparing Greek lessons that aim to teach the language in a fun and enjoyable way. Aspects of the language, including reading, listening and grammar, as well aspects of Greek culture, will be taught with the help of exercises, games and interactive ICT activities. The Northampton Greek School hopes that this will be a successful project for teachers, parents and students who are interested in Greek language and culture.
