About our school

During the Summer Term of 2008 Notre Dame High School became involved in the Community Languages Trust Project. Soon after a meeting was held where the issue of creating Polish Supplementary School was discussed. It was agreed that there was a demand for this kind of school as there is an increasing number of Polish children being educated in Norfolk state schools. At present Polish Community School are offering preparation classes for GCSE / AS examinations. The aim is to serve the whole Polish community in Norwich and the surrounding area by become a centre of Polish language and culture offering education facilities.

About the partnership

The Polish Community School became involved in the Our Languages project in summer 2008, forming a partnership with the mainstream school Notre Dame High. The school aims to use the partnership to establish Polish language teaching facilities for the community, and help Notre Dame High School position itself as a model community languages school. The students attending the Polish Community School will be given the opportunity to, not only prepare for their GCSE exams, but also to maintain their mother tongue and take pride in it. The school thinks that it is crucially important to encourage children to retain the language and culture of their country of origin and assure them that these qualities are appreciated.
