About our school
Cumberland School is a mixed multicultural inner city 11-16 comprehensive school that became a Specialist Sports College in September 2003 and more recently was re-designated with ICT as a second targeted subject. In July 2005 the school moved into brand new premises which have the latest facilities and a ‘state of the art’ learning and teaching environment. In particular, the equipment and spaces for sport, ICT, design technology and art are great, enabling them to expand from six forms of entry. Cumberland describes itself as a forward looking school, creative and imaginative in its approach in ensuring that a quality education is provided for everyone.
About our partnership
In partnership with Rokeby School and the Newham Somali Homework Club and Women's Support Group, the pupils of Cumberland School have been given the opportunity to take part in Somali language classes. This, it is hoped, will lead to the acquisition of an Asset Languages qualification and thereby allow Somali students to gain recognition for their language abilities.
