Interested in support for school partnerships with Afghanistan, Bangladesh & Pakistan?
Connecting Classrooms builds lasting partnerships between schools in the UK and
others around the world. Through these partnerships, the programme develops trust and
understanding between people in different societies, creating a safer and more connected world for the future. Recruitment is now open! Deadline for applications: 27th February 2009
Why get involved?
- Get support to find partner schools – the first step of the programme is to establish these partnerships – schools do not need to have a partnership to apply!
- Work with the partner schools on joint curriculum projects, which enables learners to interact across geographical boundaries to enhance their understanding of each other’s societies, languages and cultures and prepare them for life and work as global citizens.
- Receive funding for joint activities and projects including reciprocal visits.
- Receive professional development for teachers and school leaders, which builds capacity to support international partnerships and to lead the school in an international environment.
- Become eligible for International School Award accreditation, which recognises your school’s commitment to forming international partnerships and developing global citizens.
How does it work?
Connecting Classrooms in the Central and South Asia region is open to clusters of three or more UK schools that will partner with five schools in Pakistan, Afghanistan or Bangladesh, making a minimum of eight schools in a partnership.
Clusters of schools, supported y their Local Authority representatives in the UK and in Pakistan, Bangladesh or Afghanistan, will work together to develop and participate in joint curriculum projects in agreed subject areas. Participating schools are expected to show a commitment to developing their international partnership over a minimum of three years, and hopefully, beyond.
