Who we are

Our Languages is a consortium of four organisations: CILT, the National Centre for Languages, the National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education, the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust and the School Development Support Agency. An advisory group made up of representatives from the DCSF, higher education institutions, the local authority and other stakeholders provides guidance and support for the project.

CILT, the National Centre for Languages

CILT, the National Centre for Languages, is the Government’s recognised centre of expertise on languages. Its mission is to promote a greater capability in languages amongst all sectors of the UK population. Its website has information about training, events and publications that are essential to all language teachers, with a separate section for Community Languages that includes information on Curriculum Guides.

National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education

The National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education (NRC) is a national programme based within ContinYou, with more than 10 years experience working with supplementary schools. It is the first national agency ever to campaign on behalf of supplementary education and works to raise the standards and profile of and to build support for supplementary schools across England.

Specialist Schools and Academies Trust

The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) works to give practical support to the transformation of secondary education in England by building and enabling a world-class network of innovative, high-performing secondary schools in partnership with business and the wider community. The SSAT's way of working is based on the principle 'by schools for schools.'

School Development Support Agency

The School Development Support Agency (SDSA) is a not for profit company that provides leadership and coordination for a range of partnerships and projects that improve outcomes for children and young people. Based in Leicester, SDSA employs a small core team and growing number of associate consultants, on both local and national projects.
